Run File Renamer

Introduction

Drag a Tacx run file onto this application and it will suggest a name for it based on it's content, and allow you to rename it, or rename it and move it to the standard run file locations.

Designed for use with on-line leagues which may not give you a properly named file.

Features

  • Probes all Tacx i-Magic and Fortius run file types: .ca, .caf, .im and .imf.
  • Constructs the suggested new filename based on the standard Tacx naming conventions for run files.
  • Suggests a destination directory based on the file type (i.e. it should offer to put the file in the right place!).
  • Offers the option of either renaming the file in situ, or renaming it and moving it to the correct location in the Tacx software directory.

Download

Download a zip archive of the current alpha for Windows XP/2000 32 bit (second release).

Version Changes Date
1.1 alpha (24KB) Corrected a bug which would turn on the error indicator after a file was renamed and/or moved. 2 May 2006
1.0 alpha (23KB) First release 6 April 2006

Installation

The program requires the Microsoft .NET 2.0 library. You can download it from here. (The .NET library is approximately 22MB.)

The program is published as a zip archive. Extract the contents to a separate folder and run the RunFileRenamer.exe program.

This program has not been run (never mind tested) in Windows 64 bit, so if anyone runs it successfully please let me know.

Use

Run the program and drag a run file from a Windows Explorer window onto the application. If the file is successfully recognized, it will suggest a new name and directory location. You can then choose to just rename it or rename and move it to the suggested directory.

The suggested name or directory can be changed by editing them. You can pick a different directory by clicking the '...' button next to the directory name to open a directory browser.

If you change the suggested name to one than exists in either the target directory, or the directory from which the file was loaded, the program will give you a red exclamation mark like this:

You will not be able to move to any of the other fields or press any of the buttons until the filename is unique.

Note that if you change the destination directory, the program will re-generate the suggested filename.

Known Issues

  • With Fortius run files, you must import the first file of a new course using the Tacx Analyser program, as it creates a pilot route from the run file, which the Run File Renamer does not do. You can of course use the RFR to rename the file before importing it, and for subsequent run files for that course. If you do not do this, you will not see the course in the Fortius software.
  • The program has not been tested on a PC with a real Fortius trainer installed, so the suggested directories may be wrong in that case.
  • Note that this is an alpha release - use at your own risk, and don't use it on run files without backing them up first.
